Privacy and Security Programs
AES 256-bit encryption
Securly safeguards all restricted and confidential data using AES 256-bit encryption when stored on any media type. Advance Encryption Standard (AES) is an international standard that ensures data is encrypted/decrypted following this approved standard. It ensures high security and is adopted by the U.S. government and other intelligence organizations across the world.
Data Usage and Retention
Securly does not sell, rent, or trade student data and does not use it for targeted advertising. It retains logged data as directed by schools and complies with requirements to delete unnecessary data. Student information is destroyed as instructed by schools or mandated by law, and schools must adhere to federal laws regarding student personal information.
Proactive vulnerability detection and breach prevention
Securly invests in a “bug bounty program,” which involves hiring third-party ethical hackers to discover and report potential weaknesses and vulnerabilities in our systems so they can be remedied.
AI analysis and quarantining of images
Image analysis is conducted using artificial intelligence (AI), not human review. If an image is flagged as containing nudity, it is immediately quarantined and accessible only to authorized school personnel. At no time are images containing nudity viewable by or accessible to Securly employees.
Compliance with data privacy regulations
Securly complies with international, federal, and state student privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), COPPA, FERPA, and CSPA.
